The Decision Makeover by Mike Whitaker Review
When I first saw this book as a giveaway, on Goodreads, I thought it sounded interesting. I find self help books are either really good or really bad. The Decision Makeover leaned more towards bad.
I cannot say I would read this book again. I do not even know if I would recommend this book to a fellow reader. It was, on a positive note, a very fast read.
Reading through The Decision Makeover, I found some of Whitaker's points to be interesting. I would read them and think I do not know about that but I am willing to hear Whitaker out. I felt that there were parts where he would contradict himself. I also kept feeling that a lot of his "facts" were more opinions then facts. Some of the items had credit to the study but much of the book did not. I do not know if this was due to being an advanced readers copy or because these "facts" were really just Whitaker's opinion.
The book was very repetitive. This could be to drive a point home, but I feel it was to make the book longer then it needed to be. A few of the visual aids were helpful, but many of the aids, again, felt like they were inserted just to increase pages in the book.
I am glad I was given the opportunity to read and review this book, but I cannot say it was particularly ground breaking or even factual. The Decision Makeover did not make me feel like I could go out and change my life the way I feel good self help books should.
