Revlon Lip Colour Review- The Good, The Bad and The Not So Ugly
For the last few weeks, I have gotten to test four different lip products from Revlon. The products left me feeling all over the board. Some products have not left my sight while others might never get used again. The one overall positive review for all of them is that my lips did not dry out with any of them.
First on the list, the Revlon Ultra HD Metallic Matte Color in "Shine". Let me start with the color. I did not get a say in the color I chose. Shine was personally not a great color for me. It really washed my face out. I would give another metallic shade a chance though. I am not one for a metallic finish on myself but I thought the shine was more understated than "in your face". A little went a very long way. The color stayed on my lips for hours, almost like a stain, but the shine only lasted about 1-2 hours. I have very dry lips and what was nice is my lips did not feel more dried out by the HD Metallic lip color. The packaging was very attractive. The cap was also very secure, so I felt comfortable putting it in my purse. If given the chance, I would give this product another try but in a different color.
To continue, the ying to the yang of the HD Metallic lip color was the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Color in "HD Addiction". What also first attracted me to the product was the packaging because it is extremely attractive and modern (just like the sister product above.) When I first received it, I actually thought it would be my least favorite because of the color. Revlon Matte "HD Addiction" is my absolute, favorite, go to lip color now! It makes me feel so confident! I do not normally do bright colors. "Addiction" is bright with a little darkness and edge to it. I wore it all day traveling and without touching it up went to a wedding. Eating, drinking, talking, kissing and more activities and the Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor held up perfectly! I was still receiving compliments by the end of the night. What a surprise for me! After holding up so well, I was worried I would have a hard time taking it off (it kind of looked like a stain) but with a makeup remover wipe it came right off without me feeling like I was scrubbing the skin off of my lips. Like I said, I wore it all day and was extremely worried about how dry my lips would be as that is normally a problem. My lips were fine and I was able to wear it the next day with the same confidence and result that I did the first day. A little went a very long way. I will definitely buy this product in the future as well as this color.
Next up, the outlier, the "rock and roller" in the group, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in "Va Va Violet". My first reaction when putting it on was how rich the color was. It was a beautiful, rich and dark purple. It held up decently while eating and drinking but it probably would have been better to use a lip pencil before applying "Va Va Violet" on my lips. The color is fantastic but not a shade for everyday use (at least for me.) The Super Lustrous Lipstick was also very creamy and soft on my lips. The one downside is that the packaging is pretty boring and generic. For such a bold color, I felt the packaging should have a lot more "umph" and edginess! It is a lipstick I would buy again in several shades.
Last up, was the Revlon Kiss Balm in "Coconut". The packaging grabbed my attention first. It is a nice light orange/peach color. I also noticed the tip was not too thin or too thick. I liked this because I was able to get it on the thinner part of my lips without getting it all over my skin. The lid was also very secure which is nice as many caps tend to fall off in my purse. I loved the smell of the Kiss Balm. It was not to sweet and not too strong. It did a good job on moisturizing my lips for many hours. It lasted me at least six hours each application. It definitely lasts longer than many I have used but not as long as a couple. It also held up well when I put other lip colors on my lips for various events or just for fun. It is a Kiss Balm that when I see it in the stores or am looking for more lip balm I will definitely buy in the future.
Overall, I had a very positive experience. Two of the products, Matte HD Addiction (because, yes, it is addicting) and the Coconut Kiss Balm, now live in my hand bag. The Lustrous lipstick will be kept in mind for some future rock concerts and I will give HD Metallica another go. It was a very positive experience and my highlight was that (I found) the products did not dry out my lips.
I received these complimentary products from Revlon via Crowd Tap in exchange for an honest review. These options are 100% my own.
