My Magical Readathon O.W.L.s TBR 2019

My Magical Readathon O.W.L.s TBR 2019

I am so excited to be participating in the Magical Readathon hosted by Book Roast, over on YouTube. I found this readathon last year during N.E.W.T.’s and now I get to participate in O.W.L.’s this spring.

“G” over at Book Roast has really outdone herself this year. I will link her video here so you can go check it out. She has a booklet with careers and reading goals in it this year which is amazing!

I haven’t posted my TBR yet because I am such a mood reader. Even now there are some swaps I may make during the month, but for now I am going to stick with the books I originally picked almost two weeks ago.

I have selected a book for all 16 prompts as well as ordered out my favourite career to least favourite career. My favourite careers always seem to be easier ones but I do like a challenge when reading. Knowing myself, I will do what I did last year and just try to pass enough O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s to qualify for as many careers as I can.

I will put below my current O.W.L. prompt and book. At the very end I will list out my careers in order. At the top they are pretty strict and firm and as the list goes on I just kind of put stuff in a somewhat organized mess.

Ancient Runes- Retelling- “The Forest Queen” by Betsy Cornwell

Arithmancy- More than one author- “Stalking Jack the Ripper” by Kerri Maniscalco (I am loosely choosing this one because I do not have any unread books that are written by two authors in my house. This one is “James Patterson Presents” so since there are two authors listed on the cover I am counting it.)

Astronomy- Star in the title- “Starflight” by Melissa Landers

Care of Magical Creatures- Land animal on the cover- “Shadow and Bone” by Leigh Bardugo (I was not sure if birds counted since they cannot constantly live in the sky. It would have made this prompt at a lot easier since I have a million books with birds on them. So, I challenged myself to find the one unread book with a full-time land animal on it.)

Charms- Adult book- “The Girl You Left Behind” by Jojo Moyes

Defense Against the Dark Arts- Title begins with R- “Renegades” by Marissa Meyer

Divination- Set in the future- “Seafire” by Natalie C. Parker

Herbology- Plant on the cover- “Legendary” by Stephanie Garber

History of Magic- Published over 10 years ago- “Where the Red Fern Grows” by Wilson Rawls

Muggle Studies- Contemporary- “The Way You Make Me Feel” by Maurene Goo

Potions- Second in a series- “Dragonfly in Amber” by Diana Gabaldon

Transfiguration- Sprayed pages or red cover- “Crown of Feathers” by Nicki Pau Preto (I am a few chapters in but paused it when I decided to use it for this challenge.)

Careers: Magiczoologist, Herbologist, Librarian, Hogwarts Teacher, Wandmaker, Healer, Broomstick Maker, Astronomer, Journalist Writer, Potioneer, Aurologist, Curse Breaker, Mind Witch, Alchemist, Auror, Metal Charmer, Ministry Worker, and lastly, Seer.

I would love to know below if you are participating and if so what challenges you are aiming for.
